Ethan Mbappé, Ndjantou… These dual nationals who could make a difference for Cameroon

Ethan Mbappé – Attacking midfielder (Lille)

With a starting eleven each time featuring an average age between 24.3 and 25, Cameroon arrived in Morocco with one of the youngest squads in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. But more talents could join this group, such as Ethan Mbappé, probably the most famous dual-national among all those eligible for Cameroon, thanks to his surname made famous by his brother, Kylian Mbappé, striker for Real Madrid.

Blocked by competition at PSG, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder – who can also play right winger – is full of confidence at Lille, where he has just started his second season. Technically gifted and possessing great vision, the left-footer has a wicked touch that can make the difference at any moment. Considering that only Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Bassogog (30 years old) were left-footed among Cameroon’s attackers at the last AFCON, he is a great prospect for the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) led by Samuel Eto’o.

Quentin Ndjantou – Left winger (PSG)

He is one of the most highlighted youth players by Luis Enrique since his arrival at PSG. Young, mature, and with a strong personality, Quentin Ndjantou ticks all the boxes to be Cameroon’s next great striker. His versatility remains his greatest asset. Primarily a left winger, he has already proved he can play centrally as a striker.

At 19, Ndjantou continues to play with the French youth teams, and Cameroon would do well to convince him quickly and include him in a long-term project with the national team. The discipline of PSG’s training and the intelligent but ruthless management of Luis Enrique have already forged a strong character in Quentin Ndjantou, who could become a formidable Indomitable Lion in the future.

Mathis Amougou – Midfielder (Toulouse)

Trained at Troyes and launched professionally by AS Saint-Etienne, Mathis Amougou is a safe bet on whom Toulouse decided to gamble this season (on loan). Arriving from Strasbourg, who prised him away from Chelsea, the 20-year-old midfielder still has significant room for development but has already displayed impressive qualities, particularly last season at Racing, putting his versatility at the service of the team.

Whether playing as a pivot or further forward, Mathis Amougou thrives and can bring his carefree energy to an already active youth movement among the Indomitable Lions. Now is the time for Cameroon to persuade him as he stands out as a player for the future.

Lucien Agoumé – Midfielder (FC Sevilla)

Now 24 years old, the France national team is slipping further away for Lucien Agoumé, who was born in Yaoundé before growing up in France. Having played for Brest and Inter Milan, the Andalusian midfielder already has vast experience at the highest level and would be a major asset in the Indomitable Lions’ midfield.

Capable of playing in front of the defense or a little higher up, Lucien Agoumé is a real shield for Sevilla’s defense and would bring this solidity to Cameroon’s backline, often very exposed and which managed only one clean sheet in 5 matches during the AFCON in Morocco.

Lucas Noubi – Central defender (Deportivo La Corogne)

Born in Mouscron, Belgium, Lucas Noubi has a Cameroonian father, making him eligible to represent his country of origin at international level. Trained at his hometown club, he made his professional debut at Standard Liège before being transferred to Deportivo La Corogne in the summer of 2025.

Since then, the 21-year-old central defender has secured his place in the Spanish club’s defense, which he even helped lead back to La Liga. Right-footed, he is equally comfortable on the right or left of the backline and is particularly impressive for his speed, ability to play out from the back, and composure.

This season, Lucas Noubi has played all three of La Corogne’s matches in La Liga so far, starting every time – proof of the confidence Antonio Hidalgo places in him. The latter has already used two different central pairings early in the season, but Lucas Noubi is untouchable.
