Thirty Cameroonian Women Receive Equipment to Start Small Businesses

Thirty women in Cameroon have received professional equipment under a partnership between the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family and Orange Cameroon Foundation, as part of efforts to help vocational training graduates start income-generating activities.

The equipment was handed over in Yaounde on August 27 and includes computers, sewing machines, printers, freezers and catering materials. It will be installed in selected Women’s Empowerment and Family Centres.

The initiative is intended to help beneficiaries move from vocational training into self-employment or other economic activities in areas including sewing, catering and digital services.

Women’s Empowerment and the Family Minister Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa said access to professional equipment remains one of the obstacles facing women after they complete vocational training. The support is being provided under Orange Foundation’s Digital Houses programme, with the equipment intended to give beneficiaries the tools needed to put their training into practice and begin earning income.
