EDGE Group, the advanced technology and defence conglomerate headquartered in the UAE, together with the Brazilian Army’s Cyber Defence Command (ComDCiber), is launching a Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (COE) in Brazil. This marks the first such institution in Latin America to adopt a tripartite framework uniting government, industry, and academia.

The venture embodies a balanced, strategic pledge by the two founding entities to build a durable, internationally recognised hub that addresses Brazil’s cybersecurity demands while extending benefits across the region. Each partner will contribute direct funding, highlighting their dedication to the centre’s operational effectiveness, institutional autonomy, and sustained future.

Hamad Al Marar, EDGE’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, emphasised that cyber resilience hinges on enduring cooperation among public, private, and educational sectors, a principle this partnership embodies. He pointed to EDGE’s established expertise in delivering sovereign cyber solutions in demanding environments, which will be leveraged to advance Brazil’s objectives. The COE is intended to merge cutting-edge technology, practical know-how, and collective insight to foster enduring capabilities and establish Brazil as a premier hub for cyber excellence in Latin America.

The centre will extend specialised offerings to all branches of Brazil’s armed forces and federal bodies, encompassing professional education, skill development, and accreditation; incident response and digital forensic services; strategic cybersecurity consulting; research and advancement of cyber defence frameworks and tools; orchestration of national and regional drills; and creation of sophisticated cyber defence technologies and solutions.

Modelled on global standards, including the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, the initiative seeks to make Brazil a benchmark for sovereign cybersecurity in the region. Additionally, the COE will seek affiliations, partnerships, and endorsements from international cybersecurity bodies, deepening Brazil’s engagement with the worldwide cyber community.
