Stuttgart/Baden-Württemberg – Chargé d’Affaires Alan Meltzer traveled to southwestern Germany to strengthen U.S.-German economic ties, learned about efforts to combat antisemitism, and meet with newly appointed state leadership.

Championing Transatlantic Business Partnership

During his visit, Chargé Meltzer joined business and government leaders at the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany Annual Membership Meeting in Stuttgart. In his keynote address, he emphasized the enduring strength of U.S.-German economic cooperation and our shared commitment to innovation and investment.:

“The successes we have achieved here [in Baden-Württemberg] remind us this partnership has always been built by people in both Germany and the United States, whose belief in innovative engineering and enterprise shaped their own futures, and the futures of our respective nations,” Chargé Meltzer said.

The transatlantic economy remains one of the world’s most dynamic partnerships, with Baden-Württemberg serving as a vital hub for American companies and German innovation.

Standing Against Antisemitism Through Education

The United States is dedicated to fighting antisemitism at home and around the world. At the Haus der Geschichte Baden-Württemberg, Chargé Meltzer visited the powerful “Anti-Anti 2.0” exhibit, developed collaboratively by Jewish and non-Jewish curators.

The Chargé was moved by how this interfaith collaboration demonstrates that different perspectives can strengthen efforts to combat antisemitism through education and remembrance—values central to both American and German society.

A New Chapter in U.S.-Baden-Württemberg Relations

Chargé Meltzer had the honor of being the first international partner to meet with Minister-President Cem Özdemir following his recent appointment. Their discussion reaffirmed the strong partnership between the United States and Germany and our shared commitment to close transatlantic cooperation.

The visit to southwestern Germany underscores the depth and breadth of U.S.-German relations—from economic innovation to shared values and state-level partnerships that strengthen the transatlantic bond.
