The Chadian Consulate General in Benghazi said it is working to secure the release of 122 Chadian nationals still detained at Qanfouda Prison, west of Benghazi.
The consulate said 173 Chadian citizens were being held at the facility over cases related to illegal entry into Libya as of July 13, 2026. Of the 73 detainees who underwent the required medical examinations, 51 were subsequently released.
Efforts are continuing to secure the release of the remaining 122 detainees and facilitate the return of those wishing to return to Chad. The consulate added that it is coordinating with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to facilitate the voluntary return of Chadian nationals and provide the necessary support throughout the process, following completion of the required administrative and legal procedures.
