White, facing eight felony charges, denies all sexual abuse allegations in a recently combined lawsuit. He is seeking to delay proceedings, as well.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Cameron White formally denied all allegations of sexual abuse against him Tuesday, filing a pro se answer in the consolidated civil lawsuit brought by six children at a Huntsville church daycare where he once worked.
White also asked the court to stay the civil proceedings until his criminal case is resolved, citing pending felony charges. He invoked his Fifth Amendment rights, indicating he would assert those protections against any depositions, interrogatories, requests for production or other discovery permitted under Alabama law.
White, a 24-year-old former employee at Trinity Child Development Center on Airport Road, faces eight felony charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of children under 12. He remains held at Madison County Jail on $400,000 cash bond. His attorney has previously said he intends to plead not guilty.
A Madison County Circuit Court judge earlier this month consolidated three separately filed lawsuits into one. The suits name White, Trinity United Methodist Church, Trinity Child Development Center, and three senior employees: former director Sheryl Raddin, Associate Director Megan Tarin, and Classroom Success Coordinator Heather Atkinson.
Trinity United Methodist Church has denied wrongdoing, arguing White’s alleged conduct was not foreseeable and that the church exercised reasonable care in his hiring and supervision.
Plaintiffs’ attorney Bart Siniard has said attorneys are still reviewing surveillance footage from the daycare, and that the criminal investigation has expanded to examine incidents potentially dating to March 2021.
