Brazil beat Colombia 4-2 in second Women’s U15 Liga Evolução match

After drawing 0-0 with Ecuador in their Conmebol U-15 Evolution League opener, the Women’s National Team looked for a faster game and sharper passing, ending their second match of the continental tournament with a 4-2 win over Colombia. With the result, the Canarinho remains in contention for first place in the group and the title.

Colombia’s first shot on goal came after 25 seconds, but Brazil, focused on regaining possession and controlling the ball, surged down the right through Nicoly, who crossed for Marcela Bontorim to head home and score the Canarinho’s first goal in less than two minutes.

Brazil’s number 13 found the net again in the 33rd minute after taking advantage of a lapse in the Colombian marking and receiving a pass alone inside the box on the left, from a free kick taken from midfield.

The opponents cut the deficit two minutes later with an individual play by Lelys Victoria, who got past three Brazilian defenders and shot into the goalkeeper’s right corner. Before the end of the first half, Brazil put together a quick one-two and attacked through midfielder Melissa, who took a shot, the goalkeeper parried it, and the rebound fell to Nina de Deus, who made sure to score her goal — the Canarinho’s third of the match.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Colombia won a penalty, taken by forward Alejandra Díaz, who struck it into Nathy’s right corner, giving the Brazilian goalkeeper no time to reach the ball. The Canarinho did not let up and, in the 35th minute, scored their fourth goal. Once again, after a loose ball from a set piece and a mistake by the Colombian goalkeeper, Mavi, wearing number 9, made no mistake and scored hers.

The U-15 Evolution League is being held in Paraguay from September 8 to 20. The women’s matches are taking place at the Women’s Football High Performance Center (Carfem) in Ypané. Brazil’s next matches are:
