Belarusian State Technological University, Zimbabwe to liaise in student education

The issues of strengthening co-operation between the Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU) and the Republic of Zimbabwe became the topic of negotiations in Minsk with the participation of the University’s leadership and representatives of the diplomatic corps of the South African country, sb.by reports with reference to the BSTU press service

The delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe was led at the negotiations by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ignatius Graham Mudzimba who was accompanied by Deputy Head of the Mission and Head of Chancery Canisio Tanyanyiwa. The Belarusian side was represented by BSTU Rector Sergei Kasperovich, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Andrei Gavrilyuk, and Head of the Department for the Co-ordination of Joint Educational Programmes Yelena Yanukovich.

Speaking about the main educational programmes, scientific developments of the University and the extensive experience of co-operation with foreign partners, Mr. Kasperovich noted that BSTU has the necessary experience and resources for flexible partnership building, “The University boasts a strong human and scientific potential, as well as a flexible, dynamic approach to international co-operation. We have accumulated extensive experience in collaboration with foreign universities due to the multifaceted training of specialists in various fields of the economy. We see great prospects in uniting the scientific schools of our countries. Belarus and Africa are building bridges of long-term co-operation today, and our University is ready to become a reliable technological and intellectual foundation for this partnership.”

BSTU already has experience in co-operation with Zimbabwe, as among its students are citizens of this country. As informed, the University plans to enrol ten more students from Zimbabwe this year.

The representatives of the Zimbabwean delegation expressed interest in activating existing bilateral ties and searching for new work vectors. According to the BSTU press service, they showed special interest in environmental engineering and forestry, as these are the areas that are in high demand in Zimbabwe today for the sustainable development of industry and the conservation of natural resources.
