Zimbabwe played their first Test match in October 1992, registering a string of draws and losses. It took them 11 Tests to win one, against Pakistan at Harare in 1995. But long before that, John Traicos (who had also played for South Africa in 1969/70) had become the first Zimbabwe bowler to scalp a Test five-wicket haul in 1992, against India at Harare.

Over the years, Zimbabwe has witnessed nine bowlers who have gone on to scalp five or more wickets in Tests, more than once in their careers. Out of the top ten on the list, two are currently active for Zimbabwe in all the three formats. Of the 26 names on the list, 18 bowlers have exactly one five-wicket haul to their name.
