Ambassador to Zimbabwe took part in farewell event for new group of students heading to Belarus
Yuri Nikolaichik, the Ambassador of Belarus to Zimbabwe, participated in the ceremony marking the departure of a new group of Zimbabwean students heading to Belarus for their studies. This initiative is designed to strengthen bilateral co-operation in education and humanitarian fields, sb.by reports citing the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Zimbabwe.
Invited by Maureen Meda, the CEO of Satco Academic Trust Colleges, the Belarusian Ambassador and his wife attended the event. They were honoured guests at a meeting between the association’s leadership and the parents and students preparing to study at Belarusian universities.
In his speech, the diplomat highlighted that training skilled professionals for Zimbabwe’s economy at Belarusian universities is a vital contribution to strengthening long-term relations between the two countries. He also mentioned that the students were carefully selected in Zimbabwe to ensure they are prepared to tackle challenging programmes in key areas such as engineering, economics, and medicine. Mr. Nikolaichik expressed confidence that the students will not only gain high-quality education but also develop a strong fondness for Belarus, serving as a bridge and ambassadors of friendship between the two peoples.
During the event, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the range of academic specialties available to Zimbabwean students in the future.
Additionally, the Ambassador visited the Harare International Airport (named after Robert Mugabe), where he addressed the Zimbabwean youth with encouraging words before their departure, wishing them success in their studies and a smooth adjustment.
