Babina Noko Set For Coaching Change Next Se…

Paulus Masehe during the Betway Premiership match between Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants

Sekhukhune United caretaker coach Paulus Masehe is unlikely to be handed the role on a permanent basis, with indications that the club has already begun exploring options for a new head coach before the start of next season.

Masehe was placed in charge of the team for the remainder of the campaign following the departure of Eric Tinkler, who parted ways with the club after a run of inconsistent results.

While Masehe has been tasked with stabilising the side in the closing stages of the season, Siya sources suggest that his role is expected to remain interim, with the club understood to be actively searching for a long-term solution.

The decision comes amid a broader restructuring at Sekhukhune, which has seen the appointment of Walter Steenbok as Director of Football Strategy, working alongside Sporting Director McDonald Makhubedu.

The revamped technical structure is believed to be playing a key role in shaping the club’s plans for the future.

Tinkler, who had joined the club in March last year to replace Lehlohonolo Seema, guided Babina Noko to a fourth-place finish, raising expectations heading into the current season. However, failure to secure silverware and inconsistent league form ultimately led to his exit.

With ambitions of competing at the top end of the Betway Premiership and challenging for domestic honours, Sekhukhune are now expected to prioritise the appointment of an experienced head coach capable of delivering immediate results.

For Masehe, the focus remains on finishing the season strongly and maintaining stability within the squad.

However, as things stand, it appears increasingly likely that the club will look elsewhere when making a permanent appointment ahead of the next campaign.

So far, Masehe has overseen two matches, drawing one and losing the other.
