The story

Amakhosi striker Glody Lilepo shared a tribute on social media yesterday following the departure of Amakhosi coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.

Shortly after Chiefs officially confirmed the duo’s exit on Tuesday, Lilepo took to Instagram to post a touching message alongside a photo of Kaze and Ben Youssef in the dugout.

“My heart is with you,” wrote the Congolese forward in a brief but heartfelt farewell that quickly drew attention from supporters online.

Lilepo enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign under the coaching pair, registering nine goals and four assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for the Glamour Boys.

His last performance for the coaches came during Chiefs’ penultimate league fixture of the season, when he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over AmaZulu FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium, a result that ultimately became the final victory secured under Kaze and Ben Youssef’s leadership.

Chiefs confirmed this week that both coaches would depart the club following the expiration of their two-year contracts.

Ben Youssef initially joined Amakhosi at the start of the 2024/25 season, while Kaze arrived later in October 2024. The pair first served as assistants to former head coach Nasreddine Nabi before stepping into senior leadership roles following Nabi’s departure in October 2025.

Together, Kaze and Ben Youssef helped guide Chiefs to a strong league campaign, finishing third in the Betway Premiership with 54 points, the club’s second-best points tally in more than a decade.

The duo also led Amakhosi in the CAF Confederation Cup, where the team narrowly missed out on a place in the knockout stages after finishing level on 10 points in Group D but falling short on goal difference.

Across all competitions — including the Betway Premiership, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout Cup and Nedbank Cup — the coaching pair oversaw 39 matches, recording 19 wins, 11 draws and nine defeats during their stint in charge.
