ATTA :: UN Tourism ranks Angola one of Africa’s best-performing destinations with 28% growth

Angola is becoming increasingly popular as a travel destination: international arrivals increased by 28% in 2025 – from 174,408 (2024) to 223,140. The figures were confirmed in the guideline “Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Angola” developed jointly by UN Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Angola.

In the UK, the destination is proving increasing popular with the trade with the likes of Explorations Company, Aardvark Safaris, Explore Worldwide, Far & Wild, Indigo Safaris, WildFoot Travel, YellowWood and Ultimate Tavel Company amongst many others  to be developing offerings.

The upward trend extends beyond arrivals: around USD 3 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) is expected in the tourism sector by 2025 – made possible by 100% foreign ownership in large parts of the sector and full capital return guarantees under the Private Investment Law, among other things. More than 8 billion euros have already been mobilised under the national tourism plan PLANATUR, while Angola has one of the most open access policies in the region with the visa exemption for citizens from more than 90 countries. In addition, more than 500 million euros have already been approved for priority tourism infrastructure.

Tourism Minister Márcio Daniel said: “This development shows that our diversification strategy is working: tourism is becoming a mainstay alongside the oil sector. What we are particularly pleased about is not only the growth itself, but also the trust of international investors that is expressed in it – this is the basis on which we are creating jobs and establishing Angola as a travel destination in the long term.”

Julia Kleber, CEO of the KLEBER Group, explains: “Together with the Ministry of Tourism, we have positioned Angola internationally. The figures from 2025 confirm that this strategy works – measurable, economical and visible on a global level.”  Since 2025, the KLEBER GROUP has been responsible for the global representation and international positioning of Angola as a tourist destination.
