Ajax Amsterdam’s promising young midfielder, Abdellah Ouazane, announced on Thursday his decision to represent Morocco internationally. This declaration follows his instrumental role in Ajax’s qualification for the Conference League, where he provided two key assists.
«I have made my choice for Morocco», Ouazane stated to journalists after Ajax’s exhilarating 5-3 victory over FC Sion in the second leg of their European playoff. His ambition: to play for the Atlas Lions.
«After extensive discussions with my parents, I’m confident in my decision», Ouazane remarked, who is already a part of Morocco’s under-20 team. «Playing for your country is every player’s dream. I began with Morocco’s under-15s, and ultimately, I aim to reach the senior team», he elaborated.
«That step seems closer than ever. I’m staying focused and giving it my all. Who knows, maybe a call-up is on the horizon», continued the Ajax playmaker.
Crowned as the U17 African champion with Morocco in 2025 and hailed as the tournament’s best player, Abdellah Ouazane is considered one of Moroccan football’s rising stars.
His tactical versatility, goal-scoring prowess, and exceptional maturity on the field have made him a standout performer for Ajax during the pre-season.
Last season, he caught the eye of several major European clubs, including Real Madrid. Ouazane remains committed to Ajax, with a contract extending until 2028.
