$10 million in emergency aid for Haiti from the United Arab Emirates
In accordance with the directives of the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, $10 million in emergency humanitarian aid from the UAE has been released for those affected by the worsening crisis in Haiti.
This aid will be distributed through the UAE Red Crescent (ERC) and will include food, shelter materials, medicines, medical supplies, and support for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.
The first phase of the program will focus on urgent needs for food, shelter, health, water, and sanitation, with priority given to internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups.
The ERC will work with UAE diplomatic missions abroad, international organizations, and humanitarian partners to identify the most affected areas and deliver aid.
Haiti is facing a worsening humanitarian crisis, fueled by escalating violence, insecurity, and disruptions to essential services.
According to the latest international data cited by the ERC, 1.5 million people are displaced, approximately half of whom are children, while millions more are suffering from food insecurity and are in need of humanitarian assistance.
