Obtaining the police certificate for the diaspora
The Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are strengthening their collaboration with the aim of facilitating the obtaining of police certificates for Haitian citizens established abroad. After providing training for members of Haiti’s diplomatic missions in Chile and Brazil, several investigators from the DCPJ have been in the Bahamas since August 29, 2026, to train fingerprint technicians. This initiative will now allow these missions to support their compatriots in all their efforts to obtain the police certificate issued by the DCPJ.

Sunday September 6, 2026, the police, in collaboration with the Task Force, launched an operation in the Artibonite department against terrorist groups operating in the department, particularly in Jean-Denis. The objective was to regain control of the areas occupied by Gran Grif and Kokorat San Ras and allow the population to circulate normally. As part of these operations, the police destroyed 11 concrete barricades and filled several trenches that the terrorists had dug on the road to prevent police armored vehicles from penetrating their strongholds.
6 bandits killed
The National Police of Haiti (PNH) informs that 6 bandits were fatally injured during a muscular operation that it carried out in the area of the Sylvio Cator stadium, on the evening of Sunday, September 6, 2026. As part of this operation, the police also seized 5 long caliber firearms as well as various other materials.
Elections : The diaspora in the fog
Less than 4 months before the elections, in an open letter addressed to Jacques Desrosiers, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Jerry Tardieu, the former deputy for Pétion-Ville, asks for details on the modalities planned to allow Haitians living abroad to participate in the next elections. He asks, among other things, which categories of Haitians living abroad will be able to vote, what will be the conditions and procedures for registration on the electoral lists, what identification documents will be required and in which countries or cities the polling stations will be installed.
Jacmel : Sanitary conditions of detainees
Jacmel Town Hall, under the chairmanship of deputy mayors Stéphanie Lafontant and Julie Leclerc, held a consultation meeting around the situation of inmates at Jacmel Prison. This inter-institutional meeting brought together representatives of civil and judicial authorities, public health and the prison administration. The discussions mainly focused on the health conditions of the detainees, the difficulties linked to their medical care as well as the health needs within the detention center. The issue of prolonged preventive detention was also addressed, in particular because of its impact on conditions of detention and on the situation of persons deprived of their liberty.
