Zamalek temporarily tops the Egyptian league standings with a 2-0 win against Abu Qir Fertilizers (video)

Cairo, Egypt – Zamalek temporarily topped the Egyptian Premier League standings after defeating Abu Qir Fertilizers 2-0 in a match held Tuesday evening at Cairo International Stadium, as part of the fourth round of the competition.

Mohamed Ismail opened the scoring for Zamalek in the 17th minute, after he took advantage of a perfect cross from Mahmoud Bentayj, and powerfully shot the ball into the net of Abu Qir Fertilizers.

Abu Qir Fertilizers almost equalized quickly, after Youssef Hamdi had a dangerous opportunity inside the penalty area in the 19th minute, but Zamalek goalkeeper Mahdi Suleiman made a brilliant save.

In the 87th minute, Ahmed Sherif secured Zamalek’s victory by adding the second goal, after he took advantage of a pass from the Abu Qir Fertilizers defender, and went one-on-one with goalkeeper Mahmoud Genesh, before putting the ball over him into the net.

Zamalek raised its tally to 10 points from four matches, temporarily topping the Egyptian league standings, while Abu Qir Fertilizers’ tally remained at 3 points.
