Yemen : Army Foils Houthi Infiltration Attempt in Taiz’s Al‑Karifat Front

Taiz — Yemeni armed forces in the Taiz axis announced Tuesday that they thwarted a Houthi militia infiltration attempt in the Al‑Karifat front, east of Taiz city.

A military source told September Net, the army’s official outlet, that stationed forces repelled the attempt and captured several Houthi fighters after fierce clashes. 

The source affirmed the readiness of Taiz axis units to confront any infiltration or escalation by the militia, safeguard their positions, and secure liberated areas.

The incident followed heavy shelling by Houthi forces on civilian sites in the Shaqab area, southeast of Taiz, on Monday. 

Local sources reported that the bombardment with heavy artillery caused significant material damage to properties and targeted populated neighborhoods, continuing the militia’s pattern of attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

According to Yemeni News Agency Saba, residents of Shaqab have endured more than 14,000 violations committed by Houthi forces, underscoring the scale of abuses in the area.

The Ministry of Defense and local authorities condemned the attacks, stressing that the targeting of civilians and residential areas constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and the prohibition against striking civilian objects.
