UNFPA: Over 8,000 Newly Displaced in Yemen Receive Life-Saving Aid with EU Support

Aden — The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced Sunday that more than 8,000 newly displaced people in Taiz and Yemen’s western coast have received emergency life-saving assistance, supported by the European Union.

In a post on its official account on X, UNFPA said its Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) reached 8,365 newly displaced individuals between August 10 and early September, delivering urgent relief supplies.

The aid, funded by the EU and implemented in partnership with UNICEF, the World Food Programme, and the International Organization for Migration, aims to meet the growing needs of families forced to flee amid intensifying military operations in Taiz and the western coast.

UNFPA noted that EU-supported facilities continue to provide maternal care and emergency obstetric services in Moza, Al-Mudhaffar, Hays, and Al-Khokha, alongside safe spaces offering support for survivors of gender-based violence. Additional reproductive health supplies and medicines are being dispatched to Taiz, the western coast, and Marib.

The agency appealed for urgent donor funding, warning: “Needs remain fast-growing and immense. Every delay means a displaced family without shelter or food, a woman without safe childbirth, and a survivor of violence without the support she requires.”

The announcement underscores the mounting humanitarian toll of Yemen’s conflict, as displacement surges and aid agencies struggle to keep pace with escalating needs.
