Watch.. Zamalek Defeats Smouha and Approaches Securing the Egyptian League Title

SadaNews – Zamalek team won against their host Smouha (1-0) in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League’s final stage, on Tuesday evening.

Palestinian player Oday Al-Dabbagh scored the only goal of the match in the 62nd minute, bringing his team significantly closer to clinching the league title, as they only need a draw in their next match against Ceramica Cleopatra in the final round to secure the championship.

Zamalek raised their points tally to 53 at the top of the standings, two points ahead of second-placed Pyramids, and three points ahead of third-placed Al-Ahly, while Smouha remains in seventh and last place in the final group with 31 points.

Zamalek had a modest first half, showing little threat to Smouha’s goal despite their greater need for a victory compared to their opponent.

Nigerian striker Samuel Amadi missed a clear goal opportunity in the eighth minute after a fast break and a combined play with Hossam Ashraf, but Amadi shot low beside the post.

Zamalek struggled to build their attack effectively, which Smouha exploited better, asserting their control in the early minutes.

The first notable attempt from Zamalek came in the 29th minute with a shot from Mohamed Shehata that Smouha’s goalkeeper Ahmed Mayhoub saved twice.

Zamalek had a dangerous opportunity from a cross inside Smouha’s penalty area, but striker Nasser Mansi poorly handled it, sending the ball across without follow-up.

At the start of the second half, Brazilian Juan Bezerra came on as a substitute for Nasser Mansi to reactivate the attack.

Angolan player Chico Panza also participated in place of Ahmed Fatuh, and Mahmoud Hamdi El-Wench replaced Mohamed Ibrahim.

In the 62nd minute, Bezerra delivered a precise cross to Al-Dabbagh’s head, who scored Zamalek’s first goal.

After creating the goal, Bezerra left the field injured five minutes later and was replaced by Mohamed El-Sayed.

Smouha attempted to press for an equalizer, but Zamalek began to better organize their formation to thwart their opponent’s attacks early on.

Zamalek defender Mahmoud Hamdi “El-Wench” almost cost his team dearly after he returned a short pass to goalkeeper Mahdi Suleiman in the 72nd minute, but the latter cleared the ball away.

Midfielder Ahmed Rabea came on for Adam Kaid in the 84th minute for Zamalek.

The final minutes were tough for Zamalek, as their players retreated to defend and cleared several dangerous attempts, with Mahdi Suleiman saving a dangerous chance from substitute Ahmed Ali to maintain Zamalek’s lead.
