Vini Jr gives up his famous Brazil shirt number

The World Cup is fast approaching, and football fever is building across Brazil. Carlo Ancelotti’s national team faces a major challenge, and the Italian appears to have a clear vision as he prepares for his first major tournament as an international coach. The Canarinha manager, who has confirmed that Brazil will wait for Neymar ahead of the competition, will oversee two friendlies against Panama and Egypt before the World Cup gets underway.

As preparations continue for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the CBF has announced the squad numbers Brazil’s players will wear. Particular attention has been focused on the iconic No. 10 shirt after Vinícius Júnior revealed he would leave it available for Neymar at the World Cup.

The Real Madrid forward has stayed true to his word, allowing the Santos star to reclaim one of football’s most famous numbers. With Neymar taking the No. 10 shirt, Vinícius will instead wear No. 7, the same number he wears at club level and one he has previously used for Brazil.

Casemiro, meanwhile, makes a high-profile return to the national team and will wear the No. 5 shirt, a number long associated with him during his time with the Canarinha. He remains one of Brazil’s most influential players, a role he is expected to maintain throughout the tournament.

Endrick and Raphinha, two players expected to play key roles at this World Cup, will wear Nos. 19 and 11 respectively. The latter was previously worn by Rodrygo before his injury.
