UNSMIL announces signing of ‘4+4 Group’ agreement on Sunday in Tripoli

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced on Saturday that the signing ceremony for the mini-meeting (4+4 Group) agreement will take place on Sunday in the capital, Tripoli, in the presence of the parties concerned.

UNSMIL said the signing ceremony will be broadcast live, adding that it will provide a livestream link to the media and the public via its Facebook page and WhatsApp channel shortly before the ceremony begins.

The announcement follows an agreement on the draft reached during the mini-meeting held in the Tunisian capital, where the document was initialed as a step toward completing the implementation arrangements and formally announcing the agreement in Libya before the end of August.

The announcement comes amid intensified UN efforts to advance understandings among Libya’s political parties over the political process and arrangements for the next phase.
