The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has announced that Unit 3 at the Zawiya Combined-Cycle Power Plant has been returned to service and reconnected to the grid, adding up to 150 megawatts to the country’s generating capacity.
GECOL spokesperson Wiam Al-Taeb said the unit’s return follows the completion of a major overhaul carried out by US company GE in cooperation with GECOL engineers.
Al-Taeb said the move is part of GECOL’s efforts to strengthen grid stability, increase generation capacity, and improve the reliability of electricity supplies.
