Unbeaten Continental Campaign for Union SG
The Belgian outfit has enjoyed a strong run in European competition thus far, remaining undefeated through victories against Viktoria Plzen and a dominant 4-0 triumph over Hapoel Be’er Sheva FC.
However, the side have dropped points following a 1-1 draw against La Liga side Real Sociedad.
Van de Perre, whose undercooked back-pass allowed substitute Benat Turrientes to pounce and put the Spanish outfit ahead just 50 seconds into the second half, ultimately causing his side to drop points, admitted that the Belgian outfit deserve to be where they currently find themselves in the standings. He meanwhile also highlighted their clear ambition to secure a finish that will directly qualify them for the round of 16.
Van de Perre Sets Top-Eight Target
Reflecting on their position in the standings, the midfielder remains confident in the group’s current form and momentum.
“I feel good, the team feels good,” Van de Perre stated, per Walfoot.
“Without my mistake against Real Sociedad, it would have been nine out of nine. But sixth place is deserved. We want to win every match; we want to be in the top eight.”
Looking ahead to their next test, he added: “They are a team strong on the ball, like us. I expect a spectacle.”
David Hubert Anticipates Tough Test Against Celta Vigo
Meanwhile, Union manager David Hubert emphasised the quiet confidence within the squad while remaining mindful of the challenge ahead.
“There are expectations, which is positive and stems from our performances. It gives us confidence, but we also know everything we have to do, everything that needs to come together for that,” Hubert explained.

Warning against complacency against Celta Vigo, the tactician highlighted the defensive resilience of their upcoming opponents.
“Celta had the best defence in La Liga until last weekend; they’re a solid team that doesn’t concede much. They lost this weekend; they’re playing at home, they need to get points. I don’t think they’ll be holding back,” he concluded.
