UNFPA: Nearly 400,000 Yemenis Reached with Life-Saving Aid in First Half of 2026

Aden – The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced it has supported close to 400,000 people in Yemen with life‑saving reproductive health, protection, and emergency relief services during the first six months of 2026.

In its latest report on Yemen’s humanitarian crisis, UNFPA said assistance was delivered through 26 health facilities, 15 safe spaces for women and girls, 3 shelters, 7 youth‑friendly spaces, and 6 specialized mental health centers.

The agency stressed that women and girls bear the brunt of the crisis, with 10.95 million requiring urgent support nearly half of the 22.3 million people in need of aid this year. 

Millions face severe risks to their health and safety, with limited access to essential services, including maternal care, reproductive health, and social protection.

Funding shortfalls remain a critical challenge. UNFPA reported receiving only $12.8 million, representing 12.8% of its $71.9 million appeal, leaving a gap of $59.1 million. 

The agency warned that without additional resources, vital programs could be cut, threatening the delivery of life‑saving services to women and girls across Yemen.

Humanitarian officials reiterated calls for urgent international support, emphasizing that sustained funding is essential to prevent further deterioration of conditions in one of the world’s most severe crises.
