UN Calls for Immediate Ceasefire as Sudan Crisis Worsens
The United Nations, UN has called for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan as intensified drone attacks and the destruction of healthcare facilities worsen the country’s humanitarian crisis.
UN Human Rights Chief, Volker Türk said civilians in several regions face an imminent risk of further attacks, urging an end to foreign involvement in the conflict and a return to civilian rule.
More than six million people have been displaced within Sudan, while another 4.5 million have fled the country since the conflict began.

UN investigators said the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces are increasingly using long-range drones, enabling attacks far beyond traditional front lines.
In South Kordofan, drone strikes on a kindergarten and a hospital killed 114 people, including 60 children, while a separate attack on a teaching hospital killed at least 70 people.
The investigators said there were reasonable grounds to believe that both sides had committed serious violations that could amount to war crimes.
The UN has continued to call on the warring parties to protect civilians, respect international humanitarian law and work towards ending the conflict through a negotiated political process.
