In a strategic move to bolster its aviation capabilities, Uganda Airlines has signed a significant aircraft acquisition agreement with U.S. planemaker Boeing. Witnessed by President Yoweri Museveni, the deal includes 10 new aircraft.
The expansion, featuring both passenger and cargo planes, is designed to enhance trade, tourism, and investment prospects for Uganda. This initiative positions the East African nation as a central player in regional aviation, according to Uganda’s State House.
The contract, valued at 3.7 trillion Ugandan shillings (approximately $984.64 million), reflects Uganda’s ambitions to become a key aviation hub. The financial conversion places $1 at 3,757.7100 Ugandan shillings.
