Abu Dhabi – Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, the UAE has extended support through the Emirates Agency for International Aid to bolster the World Health Organization’s efforts in containing the Ebola virus outbreak across Africa.
Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, affirmed the UAE’s commitment to urgent responses to crises and disasters, reflecting the nation’s humanitarian mission and global responsibility to combat diseases and epidemics that threaten human life everywhere.
He emphasized that the UAE’s support embodies a leadership vision that places human dignity and the protection of life at the core of its humanitarian work. This assistance, he noted, strengthens affected communities’ resilience through tangible medical and humanitarian measures.
“The latest WHO reports highlight the serious cross-border spread of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, requiring intensified international efforts to prevent its transmission among all age groups in Africa,” Sheikh Shakhbout said, stressing that the UAE is working in partnership with governments and UN agencies to support these efforts.
The UAE continues to provide medical aid, vaccines, and essential medicines, while cooperating with international organizations and local authorities to ensure the best possible care in specialized treatment centers.
