Author’s Notes

The most prominent among the recent defence cooperations between the two countries can be given as Kale Jet Engines providing the KTJ-3200 turbojet for the MANSUP-ER anti-ship missile and TUSAŞ’s MoU with Embraer for component production.

On the other hand, Otokar’s TULPAR submission for the IFV+Light Tank tender with local production provision might open a new field of cooperation in land vehicles.

In the air domain, Baykar is one of the candidates in Brazil’s acquisition of armed UAVs/UCAVs Baykar previously offered its larger and more capable platforms like AKINCI UCAV and KIZILELMA unmanned fighter as well, with the latter having a potential to become a loyal wingman to Brazil’s growing fleet of F-39 (Gripen-E) fighters.

Additionally, Brazil’s Embraer is one of the few prominent players in the military transport market, with its C-390 combining a significant payload capacity with high speed and has seen success in multiple regions in terms of exports. While there is no talk of acquiring new transport aircraft on the Turkish side (Other than the Ex-RAF C-130J-30s), it is important to have multiple doors to knock on, considering the transient nature of military acquisitions that are heavily dependent on politics.
