Turkey and Yemen condemn drone attacks on Saudi oil pipeline


Turkey and the Yemeni government have condemned drone attacks on the East-West pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions of Saudi Arabia. According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that the drones were launched from Iraqi territory.

Turkey’s position

Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ministry also praised the kingdom’s restraint and its efforts aimed at preventing further escalation of tensions in the region.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry called for such attacks, which it said threaten regional security and stability, to cease immediately. It also urged all parties to refrain from steps that could heighten tensions.

Yemen government statement

Yemen’s Cabinet condemned what it called the resumption of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and expressed solidarity with the kingdom. The government stressed Saudi Arabia’s right to protect its security, citizens and national resources.

During a meeting in Aden chaired by Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani, the government said that using Yemeni territory to attack Saudi Arabia harms the interests of the Yemeni people and poses a threat to neighboring countries. The Cabinet also thanked Saudi Arabia for its political, economic, military and humanitarian support for Yemen and its legitimate leadership.
