Tradex continues to expand across Cameroon with a stronger focus on major highways and intercity traffic routes. The fuel distributor has opened a new service station in Ayos, in the Center Region, along National Road No. 10, one of the main roads linking Yaoundé to eastern Cameroon.
The new site brings Tradex’s network to 86 service stations nationwide. The company’s strategy is clear: move beyond the country’s largest cities, where competition is already intense, and strengthen its presence in secondary towns, transit areas and strategic road corridors.
National Road No. 10 plays an important role in that plan. The highway carries transport operators, logistics companies, travelers and motorists moving daily between Yaoundé and the eastern part of the country. Through the Ayos station, Tradex hopes to capture part of that traffic while also serving nearby communities.
More Than Fuel Sales
The Ayos station does not focus only on fuel distribution. The site also includes additional roadside services, including a Trad’Shop convenience store. Tradex wants to improve the customer experience while increasing revenue at each location through a broader range of services.
According to the company, construction of the station created about 50 indirect jobs during the works phase. Operations at the site should create around 15 permanent jobs. Tradex, a subsidiary of Cameroon’s National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), continues to expand into areas that still lack modern fuel distribution infrastructure.
The company’s approach serves both commercial and economic goals. Tradex wants to position itself closer to transport flows and growing consumption zones, while also improving access to fuel and services for transport operators, local businesses and households.
The expansion comes as competition remains strong in Cameroon’s fuel distribution market, where companies such as TotalEnergies, Ola Energy and Neptune Oil already hold significant positions.
By opening more stations along major highways, Tradex aims to strengthen its place among the country’s leading fuel distributors and turn its service stations into full roadside service hubs.
