Tinubu Invites Guinea’s President Doumbouya For State Visit To Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has formally invited Guinea’s leader, Mamadi Doumbouya, to pay a state visit to Nigeria following a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali on Thursday.

The invitation was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Sunday Dare, while briefing journalists after the engagement.

According to Dare, discussions between both leaders focused on strengthening ties between Nigeria and Guinea, particularly in the area of minerals and metals development.

“The President had a fruitful meeting with the Guinean leader. Very soon, on the invitation of President Tinubu, he is expected to visit Nigeria,” Dare said.

He added that the meeting created new opportunities for economic cooperation between both countries, especially given Guinea’s vast deposits of natural resources.

“Guinea has enormous potential in metals, minerals and other natural resources. The door for partnership between Nigeria and Guinea has now been opened, and the possibilities are significant,” he stated.

Guinea is regarded as one of Africa’s richest countries in mineral resources, with the world’s largest reserves of bauxite — the primary raw material used in aluminium production. The country also possesses large deposits of iron ore, gold, and diamonds.

Doumbouya, who recently secured victory in Guinea’s presidential election with 86.2 per cent of the votes, is currently overseeing the country’s transition towards civilian democratic governance ahead of parliamentary elections expected in the coming weeks.
