Tinubu Has Made Niger Delta Peaceful

The administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, has said the organisation’s peacebuilding process in the Niger Delta is yielding positive results.

He declared the region the most peaceful in the country and gave the credit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Oyuaro stated this in his remarks at the opening ceremony for the sixth batch of the two-day “Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation Training” for PAP stakeholders at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja, yesterday.

The sixth batch comprises 120 participants. The PAP had, between July and December, 2025, organised five batches of the workshop, training over 240 stakeholders on the subject matter.

Otuaro attributed the peace and stability enjoyed in the Niger Delta to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the support of the national security adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

He cited the 8,500 scholarship students deployed to universities in Nigeria and the 247 undergoing various postgraduate programmes overseas as part of President Tinubu’s deliberate efforts to ensure lasting peace and development in the region.

He said that the strong backing of President Tinubu and the NSA for the PAP’s mandate had helped deepen the peacebuilding process in the region.

He said he was unapologetic about the fact that President Tinubu had achieved sustainable peace in the Niger Delta and changed the negative narrative the region was associated with in the past.

He maintained that the Niger Delta would give President Tinubu total support in his re-election bid, stressing that the region’s people would not be swayed by the political rhetoric of ‘political businessmen’.

Dr Otuaro said, “We want to say it unapologetically that the Niger Delta is the most peaceful region in Nigeria. There is no apology for this fact.

“Our peacebuilding process in the region is working under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and with the support of the Office of the National Security Adviser.

“We are eternally grateful to President Tinubu and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for their strong backing for the Presidential Amnesty Programme. We know that President Tinubu believes in us, and there is no request we will make for our region that he will not grant.

“And come 2027, we will not be swayed by the rhetoric of ‘political businessmen’. We will give 100 per cent support to President Tinubu because we believe that he will do more for the region in his second term.”

He stressed that the workshop is part of his policy of inclusivity, aimed at engaging stakeholders in the collective effort to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region.

The PAP boss expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to sustainable peace and stability in the region, and urged them to remain steadfast.

He urged participants to make the most of the training to achieve the workshop’s objectives.

Dr Otuaro also expressed his gratitude to the authorities of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre and to the workshop facilitator, Commodore Amatare Kpou (Retd), for their collaboration and support.
