Terrorists block Niger road, kill driver, abduct 3 traders – Daily Trust

A commercial driver, Jibrin Mohammed, has been reportedly killed by terrorists on the New Bussa-Ibbi road in Borgu LGA of Niger State.
A witness told Daily Trust that Jibrin and six traders in his vehicle were returning from Sabon-Pegi weekly market around 10pm on Sunday when he rammed into a road block mounted by terrorists.
He said the attackers opened fire, targeting the driver who died on the spot, while three traders sustained gunshot injuries and three others were kidnapped.
“Terrorists suspected to be members of the Lakurawa group in large numbers blocked the Ibbi–Patiko–New Bussa road around 10pm yesterday (Sunday).
“They operated for several hours. Jibrin was killed, and three of his passengers sustained serious injuries and three others were kidnapped,” he said.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, promised to get the details of the incident and revert, but did not do so as of press time last night.
