Thunderstorms, Hail, and Heatwave Expected Across Morocco This Weekend

Agadir – Thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts, along with high temperatures reaching 45°C, are expected in several provinces of Morocco from Saturday to Sunday, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

The DGM issued an orange-level alert warning of thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind, with rainfall amounts ranging between 25 and 35 millimeters.

The storms are forecast for Saturday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Ifrane, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Guercif, Taza, Driouch, Figuig, Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, and Azilal.

The same weather conditions are expected on Sunday between 1 p.m. and 11 p.m. in Al Hoceima, Sefrou, Guercif, Taza, Taourirt, Ifrane, and Driouch.

Meanwhile, a heatwave is forecast for Saturday in several southern provinces, with temperatures expected to range between 42°C and 45°C.

The affected provinces include Oued Ed-Dahab, Tata, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Aousserd, and Es-Semara.

The DGM’s alert comes as Morocco continues to experience significant variations in weather conditions, with thunderstorms forecast in parts of the country while extreme heat is expected in southern areas.
