Tell Kom Aziza cemetery finds – The Past

An Egyptian team excavating the multi-period cemetery at Tell Kom Aziza (Beheira) in the Delta has uncovered a section dating to the Graeco-Roman Period with diverse human funerary practices. Burials ranged from simple pits and mud-brick-lined tombs, to decorated gypsum coffins and barrel shaped pottery coffins. The team also found unusual wild boar burials in one archaeological layer. The exact date and purpose of these animal burials remains under investigation.
