Symphony of Destiny – Heroes Of Egypt

Following the release of two singles, the symphonic metal band Symphony of Destiny are set to release their debut EP, ‘Heroes Of Egypt’, in July. Symphony of Destiny were formed in Richmond (Virginia) in 2025. The band have also already performed live, supporting The Birthday Massacre at the legendary Canal Club in their hometown. And they’ve played a few more shows as well. As the title suggests, the musicians delve deep into Egyptian mythology.

‘Chariot Of Ra’ is an instrumental track lasting almost four minutes. No, it’s not an intro in the strict sense of the word, but rather a short overture. I can’t quite understand why they’ve done away with the singing and only included vocalises. On ‘Exile Of Horus’, however, Anne Dueweke gets the chance to demonstrate just what a good singer she is. After this song also begins with epic vocalises, the guitars kick in. However, it takes another minute and a half before the singer steps in with her beguiling soprano on this mid-tempo track. Band founder Wesley Eldridge contributes a melodic guitar solo. On ‘The Riddle’, Symphony of Destiny really pick up the pace. Alongside the guitar riffs, the keyboards also push their way to the fore. Anne once again enchants with her high soprano voice. Finally, ‘Rampage (Bastet)’ also features plenty of bombast, but also quite a few high-speed passages with guitars that sound somewhat dissonant at times. Singer Anne Dueweke masters this fast tempo with flying colours too.

With ‘Heroes Of Egypt’, Symphony of Destiny are making their mark on the world of Symphonic Metal. The EP builds up like a race, really kicking into gear towards the end. This EP certainly provides a solid foundation to build on.
