South Sudan and the United States have discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the information and communication technology sector.
The discussions were held on 17 August, 2026, between Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services Minister Ateny Wek Ateny and US Ambassador to South Sudan Michael J. Adler during a courtesy visit by the envoy.
Minister Ateny expressed South Sudan’s appreciation to the United States for its historical contribution to the country’s liberation struggle.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and said South Sudan remains committed to working with the United States in areas of mutual interest, including the ICT sector.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Adler reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to its partnership with South Sudan.
He said both countries have much to gain from their existing relations and that the United States would continue to work with South Sudan on matters of mutual interest.
