Worcestershire County Cricket Club can confirm that Sikandar Raza has been called up to join a Zimbabwe training camp.
Raza will remain available for the Rapids’ Vitality Blast fixture against Kent at New Road on Friday, before departing to link up with the Zimbabwe squad.
The Zimbabwe captain has made a significant impact during his time at New Road, contributing with both bat and ball across the competition.
With the bat, Raza currently holds Worcestershire’s highest average in this year’s Vitality Blast, 35.8, as well as the Club’s highest strike rate among players who have batted more than once, striking at 145.3. He has been equally effective against both pace and spin, striking at 152 against seam and 137 against spin.
With the ball, Raza has taken seven wickets in eight matches, compared to two wickets in eight games during his previous spell at Northamptonshire. His economy rate of 6.90 also makes him Worcestershire’s most economical overseas bowler in T20 cricket since 2017.
Beyers Swanepoel and Dan Lategan have both been registered for the remainder of the competition and will join Usama Mir in contention for the two overseas places available in each matchday line-up.
Everyone at the Club wishes Sikandar the very best as he links up with the Zimbabwe national set-up.
