Siwelele head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has revealed the tactics and the players they targeted following their 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs.

Siwelele won for the first time in five matches courtesy of first-half goals from Tebogo Potsane and Siphesihle Jeza.

Seema, who was emotional after the victory, had time to settle and speak about the tactics, as he revealed that they set pressing traps on the Chiefs defence and did not allow the likes of Aden McCarthy the freedom to play long, diagonal balls over the top.

“I think the guys, tactically, the game plan, they took it to the tee, because we knew where we could get joy, especially in their defence and in their middle, when I saw the team quickly, when I saw the three midfielders that they had and (Makabi) Lilepo, the only one at the top, they were looking for speed,” Seema told journalists after the game.

“So we knew that most of the balls will come from Aden McCarthy, he’s got a good diagonal ball and (Given) Msimango will play down the line but we had to set up traps, because (Thabiso) Monyane and (Paseka) Mako will push high.

“We push high, just half-half but when we win the ball, we pass forward, we move forward and I think the guys managed to do that and we managed to score two goals after a long time, we never sat back and started to enjoy that 2-0 up at half-time, we continued, we could have one, two, maybe three, the goalkeeper came to the party but we’re a team that showed we wanted it more, we knew at some stage they will get tired because of the game (Soweto derby) they’re coming from,” the former Pirates defender added.
