Smith scored his first league goal in five games to hand Detroit City a 1-0 win over FC Tulsa, where he faced another South African in Jamie Webber.

The result pushed the club from the Motor City into the 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference to remain in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Smith’s Hot Scoring Form

The former Santos striker scored his 12th league goal of the season in just 18 games played.

The 30-year-old started the season like a house on fire, scoring four goals in the first three games of the season.

The highlight of his season thus far was netting five times in Detroit’s 6-2 win over Sporting JAX in June, while he also scored against Chicago Fire in a 2-1 defeat in the US Open Cup at the start of the season.
