A delegation from the Russian Civic Chamber delivered humanitarian aid to Cuba during an official visit to Havana on Sunday, aiming to support the local population amid the energy crisis affecting the Caribbean nation.

The donation, received by the leadership of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP, in Spanish), included food, sweets, portable flashlights, USB memory drives, and first-aid kits.

This supply seeks to support the population amid the energy crisis that the Caribbean nation suffers due to Washington’s coercive actions.

Nikita Anisimov, member of the Russian Civic Chamber and of the Public Council of Rossotrudnichestvo, affirmed that “Russia stands in solidarity with Cuba and will continue to support it” in all international forums where his country’s nongovernmental organizations participate.

For her part, Noemí Rabasa, First Vice-president of the Cuban institute, expressed gratitude for the Russian support in a context where Cuban people face shortages of basic products such as medicines, fuel, and food.

Text reads: “During a visit to Havana, a delegation of the Russian Civic Chamber donated humanitarian aid to Cuba to support the country’s population, reported today the Russkiy channel Mir.ru.”

During their stay, the Russian representatives took part in the Solidarity Forum organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples in the context of the framework of the commemorative activities for the centenary of Commander Fidel Castro.

The delivery of this humanitarian cargo deepens the ties of cooperation between Moscow and Havana at a time when the island redoubles its efforts to face the tightening of the economic blockade imposed by the United States, which directly impacts access to energy resources and essential goods for the population.

This gesture of international solidarity reflects a broader dynamic in which countries of the Global South strengthen mutual support networks to face the consequences of unilateral coercive measures and the structural difficulties derived from decades of economic siege.

The visit of the Russian delegation also reinforces the historical friendship between both peoples, a relationship rooted in decades of cooperation in sectors such as health, education, energy, and culture.

The gesture reaffirms that international solidarity remains a fundamental pillar for the Caribbean nation in its resistance against external pressures. Meanwhile, cooperation between Moscow and Havana continues to expand across political, economic, and cultural fronts, offering a concrete example of South-South collaboration in a context marked by geopolitical tensions.
