Run Julie Run versus Don Kwesi in Poorlittlerichgirl Trophy

The 4th running of the $1.4-million Poorlittlerichgirl Trophy, an Open Allowance for 3-y-o and upward over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m), looks set to be a two-horse affair when six face the starter on Saturday.

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look:

1. KING PIYE: (5 ch h by Admiral Alex – Jamaica Pharoah) – No realistic chance on current form. Hard to see him featuring here.

2. RUN JULIE RUN: (5 gr m by Successful Native – Runaway Julie) – Consistent and coming off an impressive win in the Mark My Word Trophy on July 18. She took the 9 furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) event by 1 ¼ lengths from stablemate Intrestntimesahead in 1:52.2. Has been working well and will be tough to beat if she makes it two in a row.

3. SUPREMASI:(5 b h by Savoy Stomp – Beware Baby) – Won over this trip on August 6 in a sharp 1:30.0. That was a very good clocking and with a small field, he has to be considered for the exacta at least.

4. SENSATIONAL SOUL: (4 ch c by Soul Warrior – Red Gold) – Working well and should run a decent race, but may find these a bit sharp.

5. D HEAD CORNERSTONE: (7 b h by Bern Identity – Soul Of The Heart)
– Outclassed here. Likely to be left behind.

6. DON KWESI: (4 b c by Sensational Slam – Lookatmenow) – One of the most improved in training. Finished a three-length 4th behind Dothraki, Rainsville, and California Crown over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on August 1. This longer trip should suit him perfectly. Has trained really well coming into this and looks primed to put these away.
