This comes after the manager parted ways with Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli earlier this week.
Pyramids Move Nearing Completion
However, another North African challenge could be on the horizon for the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss, as Zamalek Today reports that he will finalise the contractual procedures upon his arrival in Egypt.
The publication also claims that the Cairo-based outfit are preparing to unveil their new head coach within the next few days.
According to the same source, negotiations between Pyramids and the South African tactician are now at an advanced stage.
It is understood that the two parties have agreed on the majority of the contract terms, with only a few final details remaining before the deal is officially signed.
The report further suggests that Mokwena has reached an agreement in principle over a one-season contract with the Egyptian club.

Should the deal be completed as expected, the 39-year-old’s remarkable journey across North African football will continue.

Since leaving Chloorkop, Mokwena has remained active on the continent, taking charge of Wydad AC in Morocco, Algerian giants MC Alger, and most recently Libyan outfit Al-Ittihad Tripoli.
