RSF unit surrenders to Sudanese army with full military equipment
A unit of Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has surrendered to the Sudanese army along with its personnel and full military equipment.
The unit belonged to the RSF’s “Group 26,” although SUNA did not disclose how many fighters were involved or provide details about the weapons and equipment handed over.
The surrendering fighters were received by Al-Nour Ahmed Adam, widely known as Al-Nour al-Qubba, alongside senior Sudanese army officers and members of the General Intelligence Service.
Al-Nour al-Qubba, one of the RSF‘s founding members and a former senior commander, defected to the army in April. He had previously fought with the paramilitary force, including during battles for El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, which the RSF captured in October 2025.
He said the army had accepted the latest group and that additional RSF fighters were continuing to surrender and join government forces.
Al-Nour al-Qubba accused the RSF of lacking “principles, a cause and a strategy” and said foreign support for the paramilitary group “will not change the outcome of the battle,” arguing that such backing serves only “personal interests.”
Capt. Othman Al-Nour Hasab Khalil, one of the fighters who surrendered, said he joined the army with the group after arriving from Bara in North Kordofan state.
He called on other RSF members to abandon the fighting, saying the decision to surrender was influenced by what he described as the conflict’s “racial and regional character” and a growing sense of marginalization within the group.
The RSF did not immediately comment on the reported surrender.
Sudan has been locked in a devastating war between the army and the RSF since April 2023. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people, displaced millions and created one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises.
