Rice is widely consumed in Senegal, with an annual per capita consumption of about 90 kg – much of which is imported. However, the country also produces its own rice and even aims to become significantly less dependent on imports in the near future. Despite progress, producers and experts still see many obstacles to sustainable improvement.
