The South African tactician was officially appointed in July and took charge of the team’s pre-season preparations.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss already has two Egyptian Premier League matches — and two wins — under his belt as the season kicks into gear.
The side picked up a 3-0 win over Ghazl El Mahalla SC on the opening day, before beating Abou Qir Fertilizers SC 2-0 on Matchday 2.
Ahmed Shobair Reveals Pyramids’ Title Ambitions
It has been a good start to life in Egypt for Mokwena, and according to Shobair, the club are feeling optimistic about their chances of ending the season as domestic champions.
“Inside Pyramids, they feel that the league is theirs this year, and they have comfort and confidence in Mokwena,” the former shot-stopper said, per El Balad.
Pyramids Targeting Domestic and Continental Glory
It is understood that the appointment of the former Wydad Athletic Club boss reflects the club’s desire to compete both locally and continentally.
This comes after the side finished as runners-up for the league title, losing the Egyptian Premier League crown by just two points.
