PM heads to Angola to participate in Extraordinary African Union Summit

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly left Cairo International Airport on Saturday, August 29, 2026, heading to the sisterly Republic of Angola to participate, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in the activities of the Extraordinary African Union Summit on strengthening mechanisms for dispute prevention and resolution in Africa.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a speech during the summit, which is being hosted by the Angolan Capital, Luanda, with the participation of a number of African heads of state and government.

The summit will discuss key priority issues on the African Union’s agenda, foremost among them achieving peace and security, advancing efforts to prevent disputes and resolve crises, and supporting stability in conflict-affected countries. It will also address reconstruction and development in the post-dispute phase, an issue to which Egypt attaches particular importance within the African Union.

The Prime Minister will also hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of his participation in the summit.

This high-level participation in the important continental forum reflects Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its pivotal and strategic role alongside its African partners in addressing the challenges facing the continent, promoting peace and security, enhancing economic integration, and building serious partnerships to implement joint projects that fulfill the aspirations and hopes of African peoples.
