Pegasus Airlines is preparing to launch a new air route between Istanbul and Tripoli, becoming the second Turkish carrier to operate flights to Libya after Turkish Airlines, which currently serves Tripoli, Benghazi, and Misrata.
Mitiga International Airport welcomed a delegation from Pegasus Airlines on Tuesday. The delegation was received by the airport’s Director General, Lotfi Nashnoush, along with members of the airport’s Operations and Safety Authority and officials from the Civil Aviation Authority.
According to Mitiga Airport’s Public Relations and Media Office, the visit was aimed at discussing arrangements for launching a new air route linking Turkey and Tripoli through Mitiga International Airport, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in air transport and improve travel connectivity between Libya and Turkey.
The media office added that the visit is part of ongoing coordination to discuss the operational mechanisms for the new route, which is expected to support air traffic, enhance connectivity between the two countries, improve services for travelers, and open new avenues for cooperation with international airlines.
It also noted that the visiting delegation held a meeting with Mitiga Airport officials, during which both sides stressed the importance of the new route in strengthening Mitiga International Airport’s position, expanding its international flight network, and supporting travel, trade, and tourism between Libya and Turkey.
