Patrick Vieira could take over as Senegal coach

The successor to sacked Senegal coach Pape Thiaw could be France legend Patrick Vieira, L’Equipe reported on Monday.

Former Arsenal player Vieira, born in Dakar, Senegal, made his coaching debut in 2015. He managed New York City in the 2015/2016 season. He then managed Nice for two seasons. He also managed Crystal Palace in the Premier League for two seasons, and most recently was at Genoa.

Vieira had a great career as a footballer. He played 107 matches for France, winning the World Cup in 1998.

The 50-year-old has played for Milan, Arsenal, Juventus, Inter and Manchester City at club level.
